Chicken BBQ

Chicken BBQ has been a long time family favorite! It is also a local favorite, used as fundraisers through out the year to raise money for various causes.

When you buy chicken to barbecue, ask for chicken that is for barbecuing - it gets much better.

The charcoal briquettes should be white when you put the chicken on the grill.

Keep a container of water handy to put out flare ups.

Sprinkle chicken heavily with dry barbecue seasoning that can be purchased locally at Meadow Creek BBQ Supply, New Holland, Pennsylvania. To order Chicken BBQ Rub online, click HERE.

Grill over charcoal for 1 1/2 to 2 hours - when the chicken leg turns at the joint, the chicken is ready.

Wanda's notes: Unfortunately, I never learned the art of making BBQ chicken over the grill, so I cheat and make it in my oven. Simply bake chicken legs/thighs or even breasts or tenders, as you would any other recipe until cooked through. This rub is salty - so when making it in the oven, you will want to use less rub than when you make it over a grill. I recently made this for my family and they loved it!
