Dutch Apple Pie
Crust and Crumbs
2 cups all purpose flour
1 cup brown sugar, packed
3/4 cup butter or margarine, melted
1/2 cup quick cooking oats
Mix all ingredients together. Reserve 1 cup for topping.
Press remaining crumbs into a greased 9 inch pie plate; set aside.
Filling
2/3 cup sugar
3 T. cornstarch
1 1/4 cup water
3 cups diced, peeled tart apples
1 tsp. vanilla
Combine sugar, cornstarch and water in saucepan until smooth.
Bring to a boil. Cook and stir for 1 minute or until thickened. Remove from heat
and add apples and vanilla. Pour into crust; top with reserved crumb mixture.
Bake at 350 for 40-45 minutes or until crust is golden brown.
*I usually like to use whole wheat flour and old fashioned oats - unfortunately when I do for
this recipe it usually sticks to the pan! So if you do use these subsitutes, be sure to grease your pan well!
And that is no guarantee!
Enjoy!
PS This is not the one I just made, but it is yummy too!
